Well, home is the obvious answer. And this week, SS has been quite busy finishing his thesis (he’s nearly there!), so I’ve gotten to spend a bit more time at home lately which is a nice change. Not that I want to be home all the time, you know, too much of a good thing… But this weekend it was nice.

Yesterday I went and tried on my indoor soccer shoes (figuratively, not literally - I haven’t bought any yet!) in preparation for the coming season at Lords. I’m excited! But sore It’s amazing how not doing sport for a month can leave you so unfit. There’s a bit more turning and changing directions in indoor soccer though, my legs aren’t used to it at the moment. After that I went to the beach with SS for a fantastic swim, my first this Spring.

Then it was home for some gourmet pizza to top off a great day. Seriously, it was fantastic!

Some of you may know that I scored my first goal on Sunday, which incidentally was the only goal of the game and led to us winning our first game! Jo was bringing the ball down the wing, and crossed it beautifully in front of the box. I had positioned myself in that spot as I do quite often, but I don’t often get the chance to do anything. The goalie had moved over to where all the action was, leaving me clear to send the ball into the goal. When I saw the ball coming towards me, I thought “SHIT” but only for a second. With a deep breath, and some concentration, I knocked the ball in, going for accuracy rather than power. Seeing the ball go in was fantastic. I was so surprised and happy, but the main feeling? Relief that I didn’t fuck it up
The funny thing? Two nights before I had had a dream that I scored a goal

It’s amazing how when you’re sick, and feeling down and procrastinating, things can happen that just snap you out of it. For the last month or so I haven’t been feeling that crash hot - I think chronic fatigue is rearing it’s ugly head again (I had to have a red bull this afternoon at work so I wouldn’t continue to slow down until I just passed out). When you’re down and sick you cut yourself off from things, and then it’s even harder to come back - a downward spiral. But after a conversation late last week, and an email, and support from someone close to me, I decided I wasn’t going to let this get the better of me this time. Unfortunately, my casual work that I’m supposed to be doing at uni has suffered, but I’ll get to it. So full of motivation and enthusiasm I went to football on Sunday afternoon, and though my performance overall was pretty average (I did try, but I hadn’t trained or played in a few weeks), it was a great game and everyone definitely deserved the win.

Still on a red bull high, I went to training tonight, even though my right foot is all bruised from lacing my boot too tight on Sunday. I felt so good, I starting singing along to “Stumblin’” by Powderfinger on my iPod on the way home, using my water bottle as a microphone. And to think I could have very well have been sitting at home moping instead.

SS: “Its called bacteria”

Fine, but I heated it up properly. And it went straight in the fridge after we got our servings last night. So what gives? Lack of sleep?…

SS: “Motion sickness?”

Hehe maybe. Anyway I think it’s time to go up to my room and relax and give SS some (SS: “Give me some what??!!”) quality movie viewing - I’ve taken it upon myself to introduce SS to Shaun of the Dead - one of the best movies, EVAAAAAAAA.

What an honour. What a surprise. What a feeling. What a Blog this is now! Don’t you think it is strange how things in everyday life can describe so many more complex things. For example take traffic lights. They are simple, common and helpful BUT demanding. They demand power and when they dont get it they just go all quiet and let everyone else suffer. You may think that this is terrible, especially if you are trying to turn right at a busy intersection, however it is not that bad. In a crisis people have to rise to the occasion. The fat guy in the porsche has the opportunity to wait and let you go - a chance for him to be a hero for an instant. Otherwise he would have remained average…..
Then on a different note some very strange things explain nothing.

Thankyou for letting me write here, I enjoyed it It does mean something - if things never needed help people couldn’t help each other.

I had the best weekend. On Friday after work SS came to meet me so we could hang out. We caught the train to North Freo station so we could get my car, then drove to Scarborough for dinner at Villa Bianchi’s. We had gourmet pizza’s - SS had a bbq chicken one and I had a vego one with sweet potato, olives, tomato and chili relish on it. A couple of drinks, a candle on the table and a girl singing in the corner made it an awesome night. It was ended perfectly by hearing those words that everyone who shares similar feelings wants to hear.

Saturday saw us shopping for an iPod for SS. He ended up getting a 20GB one plus an iTrip, and we checked out some couches for our non-existent place along the way Dinner at my place followed, and we got SS’s iPod started up as well. Then it was off to the casino with SS’s mates. The night consisted of good friends, people watching (skanky girls and greasy guys), free coffee galore with SS’s new club card, and the loss of a pineapple (that’s a 50 for those not in the know). A good time though

On Sunday we got up at midday to madly rush to my cousin’s christening, then I got a bit of a stomach upset. So we hung around my place in the arvo, with a bit of snuggling, then off to take SS home. We got Nando’s on the way (mmm haven’t had Nando’s in ages - I had a double breast burger combo and chocolate mousse, but it was my only meal that day so I figure it’s ok) then went to the beach to watch the sun set. Man it was cold but exhilirating. And very romantic Then we set SS’s iPod up on his computer and started importing his songs. He’s very impressed with his new toy And it’s very cool when you have different music tastes - how great is it when you share with someone a song that you love and they like it?

Even though we saw each other all weekend except for Saturday morning, I still could have had more. Things just keep getting better. I don’t know how, but they do. It’s bloody fantastic. But when it came time for me to go home, it was ok, because I knew I’d see him again in a couple of days, and it’ll be even better. Everything is so much better when you completely trust someone, and you know they trust you in return. Example? SS wanted to read this blog a little while ago, so I let him. And he liked it, even though I talk about him all the time. And I’m not afraid to keep talking about him.

By the way, big congratulations to SS for winning the D.N. Foster Award for Coastal and Ocean Engineering! Now he gets to go to Adelaide in about a month for the Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference. Hopefully I will be able to go with him, it’d be awesome

Looking forward to: Late spring/summer - my feet are freezing!

After only four hours sleep, I actually feel pretty damn good today. Last night I went to watch the Silver Surfer and his team The Bricklayers play basketball. It was a pretty neck and neck game, but the boys managed to finish a few points ahead. The other team had some skill, but they definitely didn’t deserve to win in my opinion. The reason? One of their players would chuck a tantrum every time he fouled someone, swearing and yelling and stamping his feet. At first I was pretty unsettled by this, but by the end of the game I was laughing at him. The funniest moment? After being called up for another foul, the player lifted his shirt over his face (to hide? I’m not quite sure. Maybe he was just wiping his face…) and yelled “I didn’t bloody touch him!”. Needless to say, that didn’t change anything, and I almost felt sorry for him. Because, really, it’s only a game. It might be your favourite sport, and you might really want to win, but there’s no excuse for behaviour like that. It completely takes the fun out of actually playing.

The possums we saw in the tree outside Perry Lakes after the game were pretty cool though (just like the line my blog’s namesake song “Feeling Good” - I love the version by Muse). As was the last customer in the line at the drive through at Maccas when they were about to close - a guy on a bike

Now, to get SS to start his blog - I can’t wait to read it. You know you want to!
